I'm not. I don't know why they're going to make a movie about a picture book when there are many other longer books that deserve the silver screen

How does that give you a reason not to see it?
Like for example: I know the book will always be better than the movie, but I see the Harry Potter movies anyway. I saw the LOTR movies anyway.

Plus, Where the Wild Things are looks like its gonna win a LOT of awards.

I dunno if I'm gonna see it. I probably will when it comes to DVD or whatever. I really wonder what they're gonna do with the plot. The book's plot is quite simple and I highly doubt the movie is much like it.

The movie is listed as being rated PG in the advertisements, so I'm hoping that it has a more mature feel to it like The Neverending Story than a Disney feel. I'm sure that the plot has been changed drastically (given that the book can barely be said to have any plot at all), but that doesn't mean that it will be bad, only different. I'm actually pretty interested to see what it will be like.

Yes, indeed the film was a much more mature sort of thing. It's more for adults and older teens to reflect on their childhood years rather than children. Young kids will probably be bored very easily by this movie and the really little ones may even be frightened.

Honestly, words can't really describe the emotion of this film. It's simple, yet like a portrait of distraught youth. And yes, it is indeed very depressing especially in the first half and the last few minutes. I actually had to struggle to keep myself from crying at some points. :D

Finally, don't go to this movie with a group of friends unless they plan to take it seriously. Teens, especially in large numbers are more likely to laugh at this movie than enjoy it properly which disappoints me immensely.

It was a decent movie. It's pretty much the same stuff as the trailer. You can't compare it to the book considering its made up of only 6 full sentences.
